As part of the Edmonton Heritage Council's ECAMP initiative we’re launching a series of six short films about a few defunct live-music (rock/punk/indie/roots) venues in Edmonton.
These are the ones we’re covering with this project:
THE AMBO
THE POWER PLANT
NEW CITY (all of them)
THE SIDETRACK CAFÉ (both of them)
BRONX and THE REV CABARET
REBAR and STARS
The film premiered at the Global Visions Festival (now called NORTHWESTFEST) .

City landscapes are littered with fallen music venues of every shape and size. In Edmonton, some of the old buildings still stand tall, bricks cracking, paint peeling more with every year, while others are marked only by the condos that cover their graves. Dead Venues is an exploration of the history of several shuttered venues and the communities that grew and evolved around them.
